VAC leads Missouri as one of the few Information and Referral agencies and is the only agency in Mid-Missouri that offers this community service. We coordinate social services, work to improve the level of cooperation and awareness among service providers, and educate the community about programs available in our area.

VAC serves as an advocate and referral service for individuals who require social services in Boone County and have been unable to obtain assistance or information through their own efforts. VAC’s Information & Referral Specialists assess client needs by either responding to questions via phone or conducting in-depth interviews in the office. I&R Specialists are then able to refer clients to other resources in the community or, if no other resources are available, provide basic needs through financial assistance.

In an effort to provide information to all agencies and community members in the area, VAC publishes the Directory of Social Services in Boone County every two years. This book includes descriptions and contact information for over 240 agencies in Boone County. The Directory is a valuable resource for all who need information about these services and can be purchased at the VAC office.
