VAC provides emergency assistance to low income people when no other program is available to meet a need. These services are provided as long as funds are available and are subject to annual family limits and casework evaluations. Examples of these basic emergency services are:
- Emergency food
- Emergency lodging when shelters are full
- School Supplies for students grades K-12
- Minor auto repairs for employed persons
- Special clothing needed for employment
- Medical / Dental / Prescriptions
- Baby formula to last until the first WIC appointment
- Gasoline for medical appointments or the newly employed
- CATS and paratransit tickets for new jobs or other emergencies
- Miscellaneous items such as birth certificates, ID’s, diapers, car seats, hygiene items, or burials
